Lawnscaping Challenge #9

May 1, 2011

Well, isn’t this a way to start out the week! After a long weekend back in my home state for a big end-of-semester party, I’m tuckered out and need to kick it in gear to finish up school strong this semester. Along with the announcement about the death of Osama bin Laden, this week is off to a crazy start. Because of this craziness, my video tutorial Monday for this week will be a bit delayed (probably until Tuesday or Wednesday). I have a midterm test and a project due tomorrow, so you’re going to have to wait in suspense until I have a spare moment to get one up. Trust me, I much rather be crafting than studying. ;)

Okay, so here’s what I’m here to talk to you about: the new Lawnscaping challenge! This one is all about partying; so you can make a card or other project about any celebration. Easy enough, right? And everyone knows that our beloved Lawn Fawn stamps are great for happy events like parties and other celebrations. Here’s my card for this challenge:

I kept it simple and reproducible with one stamp for the banner, a little paper piecing (with this Salt Air 6 by 6 pad from Cosmo Cricket) and the sentiment from Sophie’s Sentiments curved to fit within the banner.

Supplies: Cardstock – Papertrey Ink (Kraft and Vintage Cream), Patterned Paper – Cosmo Cricket (Salt Air 6 by 6 collection pad), Stamps – Lawn Fawn (Bannerific and Sophie’s Sentiments), Ink – Tsukineko (Memento Black), Glitter Pen – Copic (Clear Spica), Rhinestones – Queen and Co., Corner Rounder – We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

Now it’s time to visit the fabulous design team and links for this challenge. Just for playing along and posting your link to the Lawnscaping blog, you have the chance to win this:

Yes, that’s right! A whopping $25 dollars to my very favorite online retailer, Simon Says Stamp. Woohoo! Here are the links:

See you over at the Lawnscaping blog for the challenge! I’m off to go celebrate and take joy in the freedom that the good people of our world have worked so hard to maintain for us. Today is a momentous day in our history of the world. I personally need to take a while today to sit down and really think about life and appreciation for it. I encourage you to do the same; to take a while to let the news of bin Laden’s death sink in and examine what you think about everything that is going on in this world.

I wish you all the love in my heart. It’s amazing that our connections of friendship, caring and love encompass the whole globe and hold it together. Thank you all again for your kind words, your friendship and your constant inspiration.

Love,

Britta

Love your card Brit – great party idea! Those Bannerifics are *still* on my ‘need-these’ list ;)
Best wishes with the assignments (will be looking forward to a VTM just as soon as you can manage!), and wishing you good thoughts too on ‘the news’. Hubby and I have been glued to our radio this morning. Can hardly believe it’s finally happened, thank goodness, and we are praying that it means a more peaceful world as a result!
    Hugs, Ruth S

I love this card, the kraft background really lets the banners stand out. Definitely going in the inspiration vault of my brain! I am absorbing the news of today as well and send happy wishes as you do the same. Thank you for your friendship and inspiration as well! Best of luck on the end of your semester Britta…summer is getting closer! :)
