Swept Away by Cincinnati

October 1, 2011

I’m having a grand ‘ol time here in Cincinnati hanging out with some lovely crafty ladies. I even got some Graeter’s ice cream last night, and it was pure bliss. I came down with a really awful cold the morning I was set to fly out, but thankfully it seems to be getting a little better thanks to the 17 wonderful ladies here taking care of me. (I’ve lost track of how many cups of tea Kathy has made for me! Hehe.)

Here’s my messy table so far. It’s been a relatively productive weekend, but it’s so hard reminding myself that I have other computer work to do!

This is though room as a whole – we’re having so much fun borrowing supplies from one another and sharing inspiration. :)

Heidi (the amazing and fantastic owner of Simon Says Stamp) brought adorable Abby to share. We all can’t get enough of her! (Here’s Kathy playing with her.) I wish I wasn’t sick so I could go over and give baby lots of cuddles. I’m enjoying her gorgeous smiles from a distance, though.

This is a layout I made yesterday. It’s perfect to share today for World Cardmaking day, because it’s about how two of my roommates – Joe and Greg – made cards for their sister’s birthday. I love that they’re interested enough in what I do to join in the fun of making cards. They’re so awesome.

Here’s a close up of these star die cuts from My Favorite Things sprayed with Perfect Pearl Mist in bronze. Wow, I like this effect so much!

I’m also loving this stamp set from Ali Edwards called “This One” it’s the August limited edition stamp set from Technique Tuesday & Studio AE, and you can buy it at Simon Says Stamp, too.

I couldn’t let World Cardmaking day pass without sharing an actual card with you. This one is using one of the new Hero Arts + Sizzix stamp and die sets. Isn’t this little scene cute?! It was so ridiculously easy to do with the dies, too. No cutting with scissors involved. Awesome!

Here’s a close-up for ya. These dies are so wonderful popped up on some foam adhesive. Love.

I hope you’re enjoying your World Card Making Day! I’m currently working on a card for Lawnscaping’s WCMD challenge. Just make a card using some Lawn Fawn stamps and then link it up to the Lawnscaping blog over here. You’ll be entered to win Lawn Fawn’s Making Frosty Friends! Hop on over there to learn more.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Sorry I’ve been a little MIA for the last couple days, but I promise I’m making memories to share later. <3 Many hugs from Ohio!

Love,
Britta

Hi Brita! I hope you are feeling better – those cups of tea from Kathy sound fab! I love your awesome layout; how very cool the guys are sharing your love of cardmaking. Their cards look great!

Love that scrapbook page you made! And I love that snowman card too. I still haven’t done anything with mine yet. You take care of yourself and take it easy when you get home. By that I mean, I know you have school and work so concentrate on that and don’t worry about the blog and feel you have to post. We will always be here and taking care of yourself first is more important. I’ll get off my soapbox now and “mom” advice!

You’re so sweet. Don’t worry, I’ll try my best to not overextend myself! I think you should pull out your snowman set today – it’s sooo much fun and your card will come together in no time. :)

Looks like so much fun! Adorable card, I’m wanting the new stamps/dies from HA in a bad way!

Honestly, I didn’t think I would need to have all of the stamps + dies combos because I don’t really mind cutting out images, but the dies are SO AWESOME. They cut the image out perfectly and give a different look than hand cutting. Needless to say, I have several more sets on my wishlist now. Hehe.
